The formation of the Canadian Parking Association more than 20 years ago lead to the realization that the parking industry is rich with professionals from many disciplines. Contributions to the success of the industry range from the tireless dedication of volunteers to the creation of innovative systems and technology development. Many members of the parking industry have been acknowledged by Principals of Read Jones Christofferson through two awards: The Ted Seeberg Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Canadian Parking Industry and the Ed Keate Award for Outstanding Contribution to Advancement of Knowledge in the Parking Industry.

Ed Keate Award
Ed Keate AwardEd Keate was a founding member of the Canadian Parking Association. He was Manager of the Vancouver Downtown Parking Corporation but his family background in the newspaper business rubbed off on him. He was a "scribe", fascinated with the written word. He started the Parker as a means to pass on knowledge.

2006 Winner - Blake Laufer
Blake Laufer was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario and is a graduate of McMaster University. Blake was intent on a career in computer science but stumbled into the parking industry when he talked his way into a part time job helping the Parking staff at McMaster debug their first generation parking management software. Based on his experience there, he set about developing parking management and hand held computer applications for the University of Western Ontario, eventually taking his product to market as the POMS application and his own company, Logic4U, which became very popular in the North American university sector. In 1999 Blake merged his firm with T2 Systems Inc of Indianapolis, becoming Vice President, Research and Development for the larger company. Since that time T2 has grown into the largest provider of parking enforcement solutions in Canada and the US. Blake has also developed a reputation for creating advanced and cutting edge software applications, as well as delivering far sighted, advanced and humourous presentations and articles for books and journals.
