How important are RFID solutions for the parking industry?

Near-field communication (NFC) has already been renowned as a prevalent technology. It is unquestionably that RFID can have a major impact on the way business is being carried out in the parking industry.

For parking operators, NFC technology means faster and easier payment in parking facilities. Also in on-street parking NFC can mean that parking personnel can carry out faster control of parked cars.

In major Asian cities, NFC is being used (as prepaid cards in the front window) in road-pricing and parking facilities and this is a tendency that will become more and more common. The reason is that it has clear advantages for the customers (less waiting time and administration) and the parking operators (ability to service more customers faster).

RFID cards do have competition in the parking industry license plate recognition. However, the strength of RFID is that it can be integrated with other products (cf. convergence trend). Judging from the general development, it is fair to assume that many more products will be integrated in the mobile phone, making this device the dominant. Therefore, solutions in the parking industry must comply with RFID to maintain competitive.

We are doing parking guidance system solution and are actually planning the RFID solution for further applications as well.

Interesting we have already implemented RFID solution in multiple parking applications worldwide include parking access and even occupancy detection.

We have an integrated parking Solution.
A dynamic system for Permits, RFID parking, GSM parking and ofcourse the WEB.
In combination with on- and offstreet parking.
For now we are working together and putting the RFID reader into two most populair European brands of Pay and Display machines.
Nice thing is that the RFID card can be used for more than parking!
