As a Senior Structural Engineer at Walker you will design some of the largest structures in the world, including resort, casino and airport parking structures. Parking structure design requires skill in both structural design and materials science due to aesthetics, long span, thermal, and durability challenges. These structures endure the elements with every framing member exposed to public view. Not only will you design the structures framing system, but you will participate in its layout and aesthetic appearance, interacting directly with clients and other subconsultants. There will be opportunities to lead engineering teams, mentor less experienced engineers, and provide input on the engineering direction of the company. You will be responsible for leading the design solution for complex projects as well as performing professional engineering work with complex features and/or unconventional solutions with the goal of continually improving service to our clients.
Successful candidates for this opportunity will have a solid knowledge of structural engineering and the ability to assemble complete and concise construction documents. Experience in the design and construction of pre-cast, post-tensioned, and reinforced concrete structures is desired. Strong computer, writing, communication, and team skills are necessary. Illinois S.E. registration and 10 years of experience are required.
