The Senior Transportation Planner assists the Director of Transportation and the University Planner with high-level planning support and collaborates with colleagues in Planning and Project Development, Transportation Services, Project Design & Construction, and the university in carrying out a broad range of planning initiatives to ensure the universitys transportation and parking needs are proactively addressed in the physical development of the campus. |

Responsibilities include university-wide campus planning efforts, planning associated with department-specific master plans, planning associated with a specific building projects regarding access and transportation needs and Transportation department projects to support university-wide sustainability and traffic reduction efforts. The Senior Transportation Planner position requires a unique and diverse set of skills. In a given day, this position may act as a planner, designer, project manager, administrator, analyst, cartographer, and graphics specialist. Along with the Director of Transportation, this position will be actively engaged in local municipal and county planning initiatives as they relate to University transportation planning efforts. The Senior Transportation Planner may act on behalf of the Director of Transportation and the University Planner in select cases. The Senior Transportation Planner has a dual reporting relationship with Transportation and Campus Planning.

| Bachelors degree in planning, architecture or related field. At least five years of transportation and land use planning, physical planning, or relevant experience required. Experience dealing with municipal issues, preparing planning analyses & documents, and presentations required. Excellent graphic, organizational, writing, and analytical skills are necessary, as well as the ability to create and make presentations to a wide variety of audiences and the public. Ability to work well in a team environment is essential. Flexibility and capability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules is essential. Must demonstrate the organizational values of truth, respect, teamwork, integrity and excellence. Requires high motivation and the ability to exhibit innovation, good judgment and reliability in the work place, as well as the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Expertise with both analytical and graphic software is a must, as well as experience with GIS, database, graphic and desktop publishing and business software. |

Masters degree desirable. More than five years of relevant experience, including with transportation planning in a university environment; with Transportation Demand Management (TDM) and Trip Reduction Strategies (TRS); urban and site design skills as they relate to transportation, access, circulation, and parking, is preferred.
