HCMC to build its first floating car park

The Ho Chi Minh City Peoples Committee has approved a pilot project to build its first floating car park on the Nhieu Loc Thi Nghe Canal in the heart of the city.

| The project, proposed by the Ngoi Sao Sang (Lighting Star) Company, will be built like a bridge over the canal and will let five to seven cars enter at the same time. |
Tran Dinh Ba, a representative from Lighting Star said that with a projected life span of about 100 years, his companys 8 to 10-story car park will be the optimum solution for the serious lack of parking space in Ho Chi Minh City. Meanwhile, the underground car park under construction, at a cost of some USD 80 million, underneath Le Van Tam Park in HCMC will provide 1,000 parking spaces when completed.
Investment for the floating car park will be around USD 4.6 million, and the construction will be completed within six months.
The floating car park will provide parking spaces for 450 cars and 1,000 motorbikes. |
