In August 2008 Parkmobile successfully bid for the 12 month contract to supply cashless parking to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. After a very successful year using the system, the council was required to tender for cashless parking again. |
Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Development and Transport Cllr Clive Sanders said: We were very happy with the Parkmobile system and throughout the period of the 12 month contract we have not received any adverse comments about the system, and are pleased to award the contract again to Parkmobile
Before submitting a revised tender Parkmobile commissioned market research amongst its customers in Basingstoke and Deane and the response was overwhelming. 85% of all respondents said they were either satisfied or very satisfied with the system and the company. In addition over 86% of all respondents said they particularly liked the personal approach to the registration process. As Peter ODriscoll of Parkmobile commented During the first year we worked very closely with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council ensuring the system lived up to expectations. Whilst we expected to get good responses from members of the public, we were particularly pleased with the levels of satisfaction with the registration process and our unique option to allow parkers to start and stop the transaction.
Parkmobile is the only cashless parking company who can give motorists a system whereby they dont have to forecast how long they will need to park. After arriving in a car park the motorist calls the system to start a parking transaction. When they return to their vehicle they simply call again to end the transaction. Currently the Parkmobile system operates in all the councils 14 car parks. As part of the new contract Parkmobile will implement a new local 01256 number which will make it even more attractive to the residents of Basingstoke and Deane.
Cllr Sanders explained: The main reason we decided to continue with Parkmobile is that they offered the most financially effective solution and we were pleased with their customer services.
He also added: Since the introduction of Parkmobile we have found that disputed PCNs are easily dealt with and, using Parkmobiles clear audit trail, we are able to determine very quickly if the customer had a genuine parking transaction or had indeed attempted to park.
We are obviously very pleased to have been awarded the contract again, in the face of stiff competition, and we are very excited about continuing and developing our partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Council," stated Peter ODriscoll of Parkmobile. |
