Parking Management System Handed Over to Cultural Village

Traffic Tech (Gulf) together with Scheidt & Bachmann commissioned the newly installed Parking Management System at Qatars Cultural Village, an area that represents traditional architecture of Qatar and the Gulf Region. Under the name Katara, the Cultural Village hosts historical and cultural venues including a theater, a library, an arts gallery, a museum, the Gulf Heritage Center, and other academic facilities.

There are 1,963 slots in the two level parking area of the Cultural Village. Though parking is free, the system was integrated with a Parking Guidance System to ease drivers search for vacant parking slots. External guidance signs located at each parking entry approach display slot availability on each level. Internal guidance system including 82 internal signs (arrow and vacant slot count) as well as 1,963 single space detectors aide drivers search for vacant slots throughout the parking facility. In case the parking area is full, barriers at the entries will deter entry of vehicles until the system detects a vacated slot.
The Cultural Village is the first to go live with a fully integrated Single Space Guidance System in Qatar, says Haythem Kildani, Traffic Techs Parking Project Manager. The facility is now ready to accommodate expected high volume of vehicles that will visit Kataras opening at the end of March, adds Kildani.
