Harmon Avenue Parking Facility
the University of Arkansas, USA
http://www.walkerparking.com |
The University of Arkansas Harmon Avenue Parking Facility was created to provide much needed parking for the southern part of the campus. The structure provides 2,149 spaces on nine levels.
The site sloped sixty feet allowing the facility to be cut into the hillside, thus preserving the views for the surrounding academic buildings and allowing entry/exits to be located on four different levels on three sides of the structure. A thirty foot wide light well in the center of the facility provides natural light and ventilation for all nine levels. The structure is set up as a flat plate system with the ramps located adjacent to the interior light well. The stairwells are free-standing steel stairs that wrap around an architectural precast concrete bar. Retail space provides car wash and oil change service, dry cleaning service, campus information, photo processing, DVD rental, ATM, snacks and beverages as well as clothing/bookstore outlet. |
