For the past 15 years, Lisbon has been faced with a continuous increase in traffic. Every day, some 600,000 vehicles come into the capital, which only offers 200,000 parking spaces.
|
| |
| To address those difficulties, the public parking operator, Emel, and the private operator Street Park have selected the solution from Parkeon and its local partner Resopark, for efficient centralised parking management. |

In view of the chaotic parking of an ever increasing number of vehicles, Lisbon needed to dene a true urban mobility policy.
To remedy that situation, Emel and Street Park had to succeed in regulating on-street parking, while improving the way in which motorists perceived pay parking. |

In order to make the authorities more aware and provide information,
Emel carried out a major communication campaign highlighting the benets
of regulating on-street parking, which is a key factor for mobility in
cities.
At the same time, public and private operators decided
to gradually put in place a series of modern parking management
solutions, particularly new-generation parking terminals.
Parkeon
and its distributor Resopark were thus selected for the quality
of the solution proposed and for their capabilty to supply a
high-quality service to Lisbon.
For the first time, nearly 300
solar powered Strada Rapide parking terminals centralised using the
GPRS network were installed in Portugal replacing the old DG parking
terminals. The infrastructure is managed by the Parkfolio
Information System that processes operating and nancial data (remote
maintenance, accounting, statistics).
The city has opted for
Strada terminals with exchangeable canisters for transferring coins. The
centralised management system allows the operator to easily consolidate
revenue. Statistical and nancial reports are generated and are
accessible via the Internet to facilitate the management of the
operation.
Strada terminals are open to development and will in
future handle a large number of payment methods such as bank
cards using the latest EMV standards or the Lisboa Viva
contactless intermodal card put in place for public transport in the
conurbation.
Emel and Street Park are committed to allowing users
to pay for parking in the most simple and most convenient way possible. |

By selecting Parkeon and Resopark, both operators have opted for reliability and high performance.
The reliability of Parkeon machines and its centralised management system is being combined with the efficiency of a professional and flexible services company.
Parkeon and its partner Resopark are capable of supplying, implementing and maintaining over a long period of time some of the most advanced solutions in the world of parking.
The renewal of the parking machine base with devices of the very latest generation offers the operator all guarantees in terms of openness to development and availability, since the deployment project will take place over several years.
"We get a good support from Resopark, they are very professional and they respond very quickly." Fernando Gomes Operational Manager of STREET PARK ACE
