Imagine not having coins in your wallet and the way to the store is much shorter than the way to the parking terminal when you only need to pick something up within 5 minutes. In Mittweida, Germany, they introduced Pumi, a "parking-hourglass" that gives you 10 minutes of free parking.
Pumi can be placed visible on the dashboard or you can stick it to the windscreen. This concept was introduced in Badem-Wërremberg and Kirchheim in Germany where the system is running succesfully for 2 years already.
The municipality of Mittweida sells the Pumi's for 5 Euros and they can be used on all parking spaces within city limits. As long as your short parking takes no more than 10 minutes, parking is free.
