Maintenance and Handyman Operative (Luton and Dunstable, UK)

The Role

As a Maintenance and Handyman Operative you will support the GTR Operations Management team to ensure that all facilities needs are identified and effectively implemented in order to meet business and contract requirements. You will work as part of the GTR Operations team to ensure that all reports, logs and data is maintained to Company Standards and ensure that individual and collective responsibilities and targets are met, and information is available as required. You will act as a direct liaison for external contractors and be mainly based outside of a designated office environment, time management will be key.

What you’ll do

  • Support the Operations and Contract Managers to ensure that the Management Contract is complied with.
  • Propose areas of car parks where either direct works by yourself and/or external contractor works could generate revenue for APCOA
  • Ensure specified response time targets are met, in accordance with department targets and service level agreements
  • Communicate in a professional and courteous manner when dealing with clients, suppliers, and company staff
  • Removal of abandoned objects from site
  • Facilitate records through close liaison with administration teams,
  • Install or repair posts within the car parking areas
  • Carry out Minor works such as Payment machine moves, Carpark lining / relining (Thermoplastic and/or manual line painting) minor engineering general works, signage installation, post installations
  • Complete daily / weekly works trackers
  • Report any Health and Safety issues and or Accidents on the companies QM portal
  • Produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements for all work activities prior to completion of activities.
  • Support the Operations / Contract Manager to ensure that the Company’s Policies are fully always implemented

What you’ll bring

  • Able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of Car Park Operations such as Parkeon or IPS operations and knowledge of a Pay and Display Environment.
  • Experience completing RAMS paperwork
  • Minimum of 12 months experience in a lead Maintenance role.
  • Some customer service experience including dealing with phone
  • Experience using generators, electrical tools, Breakers / Jack Hammers
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Self-motivated, proactive nature
  • Ability to prioritise, organize and multi-task
  • Must be able to liaise with management and contractors
  • Must be able to research ideas and information
  • Happy to work unsupervised

What we’ll offer you

  • £22,000-26,145 annual salary (depending on experience)
