Project Design Drafter

The Project Design Drafter works side by side with our sales teams to support the growing needs in our business, both in designing new programs and managing their execution. This position will play a critical role in the continued growth and success of our company. This position is located in California.

Key Duties Include:

  • Participate as a customer interface on all design requirements for proposed parking lift projects. Includes concept development, massing and programming studies and design development.
  • Responsible for coordinating and producing conceptual designs, complete and accurate shop drawings, design development documents, schematic designs, installation and construction documents.
  • Interface with multiple constituents, including the design, manufacturing and quality control team in China, business development, and construction in the United States.
  • As needed, interface on design requirements with outside parties, architects, structural engineers, general contractors, City planners, building & fire departments and 3rd party inspectors. Assist the Chief Engineer as needed on additional projects and business needs.
  • Develop a working knowledge of all related codes, including planning, seismic and fire safety across different jurisdictions in the United States.
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor.

Job-Related Qualifications:

  • Related undergraduate degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or Similar degree. Working background in drafting and experience with designing for steel frame structures.
  • Strong CAD design skills required.
  • Revit experience is a plus but not mandatory. Must be willing to learn to use it.
  • 2+ years of experience in designing or project management and a firm grasp of the project design and document delivery process.
  • Must be familiar with planning and zoning approval processes and construction permitting.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High degree of creativity and self-initiative.
  • Results oriented.
  • Excellent team player and able to perform under pressure.
  • Flexible working outside normal business hours as needed to meet time zones.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with remote teams and sales professionals.
