The Role

The product owner is the voice of the customer, represents the internal stakeholders, and is responsible for delivering the highest possible value to the business. Your role is to take this philosophy and apply it across your assigned product set.

Responsibilities

  • Lead requirements gathering effort - consulting with product management, implementations, clients, and other partners (sales, support, client services, project teams, etc.)
  • Write user stories and review the details with the engineering team
  • Prioritize the product backlog with input from engineering, corporate support/IT and product teams
  • Contextualize priorities for engineering team
  • Answer questions from engineers and clarify product requirements
  • Ensure understanding of requests and clarify partners' expectations
  • Agree on definition of “done” for stories
  • Accept/reject stories
  • Groom backlog with 4-6 weeks’ worth of work
  • Lead backlog maintenance meetings
  • Attend scrum meetings including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos
  • Document the new features for implementations and release notes
  • Review demos with team members before demo day
  • Relate completed work back to product vision and road map
  • Report engineering work planned, in progress and completed to the executive team
  • Work with UX team on design and assist with the creation of mock-ups

  • Slack, GitHub, Pivotal Tracker, Confluence, Jira. Microsoft Office 365, Zoom

Job Skills/Experience

  • Working with international and distributed teams
  • Multiple years of working as an agile product owner with engineering teams
  • Owned/managed the launch of a signature product line for an organization, or was part of a team that did this
  • Technical writing

A technical degree is not required, candidate should be familiar with the language of product and engineering.
