An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client. They are currently looking for a Parking Services Manager to come and join their team based in Bury St Edmunds. You will join on on a full time, permanent basis working 37 hours per week and will receive a competitive starting salary of £36,379 rising to £41,967 per annum plus a unique benefits package.

Our client delivers a broad range of frontline services to the people of Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury. Demand for car parks has never been higher and whilst being recognised as providing one of the best car parking services in the region, they don’t rest on their laurels.
They now need to recruit an experienced Parking Services Manager to lead and develop this important service into an exciting future. Based in the beautiful market town of Bury St Edmunds the job has responsibility for managing 26 off-street car parks and 14 resident parking schemes.

More About The Parking Services Manager Role

Our client currently operates under RTRA1984 although Civil Parking Enforcement is on the horizon and will be implemented from April 2019. You will deliver parking and related services in accordance with West Suffolk policies, practices, legal requirements and industry standards. Upcoming projects that will be coordinated by the Car Parks Manager include implementing a decriminalised parking regime, introducing new payment technologies and supporting ambitious plans for the delivery of more car parking provision.

Skills And Experience Required Of The Parking Services Manager

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Developing bespoke parking strategies across three key town centres
  • Supporting retail and economic growth through the development and continuous improvement of the customer experience in collaboration with key stakeholders
  • Delivering and developing an agreed vision for the continuous improvement of parking services through achievable annual business/service plans, strategic direction, effective management and deployment of staff
  • To work commercially in collaboration with external partners and other organisations
  • To achieve agreed targets, objectives and outcomes within budget and to deadlines
  • To be accountable for the service budget of around £5m
  • The successful candidate will have a relevant parking services qualification or be able to demonstrate significant previous experience in a similar role. Your excellent communication and presentational skills, experience in dealing with the media and demonstrable delivery of parking strategies coupled with commercial acumen and insight will help you to develop excellent working relationships with partner councils and external organisations. Your experience of leading an in-house team will ensure you will proactively manage staff performance, absence and development of the team.
