VP Finance (Charlotte, US)


Job description

We’re looking to make a key hire to help us continue our hyper-growth and shape the future of our strategy. The role will report directly to our CEO and will lead all finance activities: budgeting, forecasting, and acting as a partner to all key stakeholders in the business. You’ll handle everything from the board meeting decks to the the most important details in our operating and sales models, and everything in between. If this sounds like a good mix, read on!

The Role

  • Business partnering - work closely with company leaders to develop financial forecasts and operational goals, apply business judgment and financial insights to assist with decision making
  • Sophisticated financial modeling - build models from scratch, maintain and update models, improve accuracy and simplification of existing models, automate summary reporting
  • Optimize our cash flow, with particular focus on marketing spend and inventory buys
  • Analyze variances between actuals, forecast, and plan - use insights to iterate on forecasts and create action
  • Think strategically and then execute, operationalize the insights we gain from our models and analysis
  • Manage external relationships with bookkeepers
  • Negotiate and approve all contracts with outside vendors across business areas
  • Special projects and deal support - new initiatives always come up, as strengths emerge you will have the chance to contribute beyond traditional FP&A

The Ideal Candidate has

  • Experience: a) 3 years in i-banking and 4+ years in an operational FP&A role at a high growth startup OR b) 5+ years in a well-respected corporate FP&A program
  • SaaS experience and understanding of GAAP governing SaaS companies is a plus
  • You will take initiative, be proactive, set and drive toward goals
  • “Whatever it takes” mentality from analyzing our marketing channels to sending out wires to payables
  • Elite Excel skills - no other way to say it, you're a badass
  • Best practices are second-nature, your models are efficient, scalable, and intuitive - you can handle complexity but strive for simplicity
  • Sense of urgency: nothing in the universe will get in the way of delivering your goals
  • Excellent communication and people skills - numbers are key, but a business is built with people
  • Relationship building and adept communication are assets in our fast-moving environment
  • Self-starter - we don't have time or desire to micro-manage.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP
