Job Summary

The Associate HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level providing support to the HR Manager. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: HRIS management, payroll and benefits administration, talent acquisition, new employee orientation, performance management, HR administration, affirmative action, and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • HRIS Management: Maintains the HRIS and compiles reports from the database. Keeps employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in timely fashion.
  • Payroll Administration: Processes payroll weekly and semi-monthly for all hourly and salaried employees ensuring accuracy of data entry, including earnings and deductions.
  • Talent Acquisition: Assists in the recruitment and selection efforts for open employee requisitions; Creates job postings and advertisements, reviews resumes, conducts telephone screenings, schedules in-person interviews, and conducts reference checks.
  • New Hire Onboarding: Prepares all new hire paperwork; notifies internal staff of new employees; ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 and E-Verify, periodically audits Forms I-9, monitors new employee activities to include completion of required training and policy review and acknowledgement.
  • Performance Management: Assists the HR Manager in monitoring the performance evaluation program and processes salary adjustments / increases as necessary.
  • Benefit Plan Administration: Monitors employee eligibility for benefit plans, including the 401(k) plan. Performs benefits administration, ensuring all employee enrollments are processed accurately. Answers benefits related questions and assists with issues, including claims resolution and change reporting, and assists the HR Manager in organizing the open enrollment process and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Administers COBRA for group health plans and FMLA.
  • Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Workers’ Comp Administration: Reports, maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
  • Legal Compliance: Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment / benefit laws and regulations. Develops and maintains Affirmative Action Plan & EEO Reporting, files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or a related field or and equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years’ experience working in Human Resources required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification within 12 months preferred.
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations required.
  • Must have excellent organizational & communication skills.
  • Professionalism and attention to detail along with excellent proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel are required.
