Essential Position Functions
The Senior Hardware Engineer (Mechanical) will play key roles in the development and implementation of design improvements to various products at T2 Systems. This position will also be involved in cost reduction projects of various mechanical modules.
Provide technical leadership to the engineering team on a path of continual improvement; developing and improving standards and procedures to ensure we remain a leader in our industry.
As part of a team, be responsible for the innovative design and development of new products as well as maintenance and improvement of existing designs;
Model and analyze products or components using computer-based analysis tools;
Design verification through testing for conformance to industry standards;
Physical implementation of prototypes;
Design and develop test fixtures;
Ensure that products meet manufacturing requirements (DFM) for ease of assembly, consistent quality, reliability and cost effectiveness;
Select appropriate materials and determine methods of manufacture;
Processing of Engineering Change Request and Notice (ECR / ECN);
Implementation of design changes resulting from production feedback;
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to purchase and expedite the delivery of key mechanical components;
Provide support to the production team and manufactures;
Provide technical support, mentoring and training of junior engineers and new team members.
Ability to take on his/her own projects as well to be able to accept instructions and meet tight deadlines;
Drafting as per industry drawing standards and ability to detail using GD&T practices;
Suggests new ways to accomplish more and achieve better quality.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential;
PLM exposure and experience preferred;
Some hands-on skills, basic machine shop fabrication skills (mill, lathe, sheet metal fabrication), and Quality Control experience;
Design for Manufacture and Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA) skills.
Knowledge of material properties, selection, and sources;
Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis, and written documentation;
Understanding of die cast, injection molding, and tool making processes;
Understanding of high volume manufacturing processes;
Strong mechanical design skills and the ability to multi-task are must-haves.
