Technical Manager (UK)

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive and self-motivated individual to join the WPS Team as Technical Manager.

What you will do

Based at our offices in Swindon, you will be responsible for leading the WPS UK Technical and Product Management functions to ensure the successful introduction and ongoing provision of high quality solutions to WPS’s UK customers. The role works in close collaboration with the WPS Group Technology Team, third party integrators and the WPS UK Service Support Team.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and developing the Technical Support Team ensuring effective planning, prioritisation and allocation of work within the team;
  • Acting as systems architecture lead, working with Sales and Projects, to define innovative technical solutions to meet the business needs of our customers;
  • Keeping up to date with new product availability and technology development;
  • Ensuring, with Group colleagues, that our solutions are compliant with UK standards;
  • Working with third parties to scope and implement integrations with WPS products and solutions;
  • Providing hands on technical support to enable resolution of customer and systems issues;
  • Managing the local infrastructure and working with third party suppliers to ensure quality of service;
  • Ensuring WPS UK IT security compliance;
  • Supporting the Service Team to ensure the provision of high level technical support to onsite engineers;
  • Participating in the Technical Support on call rota.

This is primarily an office-based role involving some UK travel.

What you'll bring to the table

Looking to further develop your career, you will have previous experience in a similar role together with:

  • A degree level (or equivalent) qualification in a relevant technical discipline or a high level of relevant technical experience;
  • Experience of technical product management and the management of complex technical programmes;
  • Working knowledge of deployment of IP networks, Linux, Unix, Docker, SQL/Postgres;
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills together with the ability to assimilate and understand complex technical concepts;
  • Able to communicate at all levels and build strong relationships with colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers;
  • Excellent organisational and self-management skills;
  • Customer focused and driven to deliver a first-class solution and service to clients;
  • Strong team leadership skills with a hands-on leading by example approach;
  • Full driving license;
  • Right to work in the UK.
