25 YEAR AUTOSLOT MACHINES JUST BEING REPLACED
Spelthorne Borough Council has just replaced a number of their pay and display parking machines which have operated in their multi-storey car parks for more than a quarter of a century.
The council purchased Metric Autoslots back in the 1970s and according to parking services manager David Scoggins they have been wonderful machines.
I personally have a lot of experience of the Metric Autoslot and over the years these machines have done the borough proud, he said.
The Autoslots have served their time well and some of them are over 25 years old. But technology has moved on and the parking industry needs more information, including remote monitoring, which the new Metric Aura will give us, he added.
Spelthorne Borough Council has ordered 24 Metric Aura pay and display parking machines, 20 of which will replace Autoslots in multi-storey car parks in Staines which also has six Metric Accents installed two years ago.
The council is also introducing Metrics unique web based back office system. The Metric ASLAN Web Back Office incorporates all the benefits that come with web based solutions.
The enhanced back office system will also be beneficial in allowing four solar powered Auras in remote locations to be linked up. Remote monitoring will be really useful in enabling us to see if there is anything happening in these locations without us having to visit, said David Scoggins.
In addition to the remote locations in Middlesex, Auras will be installed in the 450 space Tothill multi-storey car park (12 in total), the 250 space Riverside underground car park (three) and one each in Elmsleigh Road and South Street car parks which each have 25 spaces.
Two Autoslots remain in use on the upper two floors of the Ashford multi-storey car park.
