AnnapolisARINC Managed Services ( AMS ), the world leader in managed IT services and support for airports, today announced it has been awarded an extension of its service contract to maintain the parking revenue control systems ( PRCS ) and related technology at Washington Dulles International Airport.

Under the new agreement, AMS will continue providing 24-hour service and support for the airports public lots, garages, and employee parking areas serving more than 20 million people a year. ARINCs customer, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority ( MWAA ), operates Dulles International and Ronald Reagan National airports.

AMS provides comprehensive 24x7 hardware support and maintenance for the Dulles International hourly and economy lots, two daily parking garages, and four employee lotsa total of more than 28,000 parking spaces. AMS is also responsible for advanced parking lane technology, including the subsystems for fixed and mobile license plate recognition ( LPR ), automatic vehicle identification ( AVI ), proximity card readers ( PCR ), and space-counting systems.

From gate controllers to ticket dispensers, major airports like Dulles invest a great deal in modern parking systems. They depend on this technology to efficiently process millions of vehicles for both passengers and airport/airline employees, said Don Larson, AMS Director for the Americas and Europe. Our goal is to make parking a totally
uneventful part of an airport experience, while delivering an excellent ROI for the airport authority.

A team of AMS technicians delivers 24x7 on-site support year-round at Dulles, providing preventive and corrective maintenance for systems hardware at the airports entry terminals, exit terminals, cashier terminals, pay-on-foot stations, AVI lanes, PCR lanes and space counting systems. AMS personnel also monitor traffic in all the Dulles parking lanes to ensure smooth operations and a positive experience for all airport patrons.

Parking access and revenue control systems are a major source of income for airport authorities today, continued Larson. Proper maintenance and management are crucial to the bottom line. From a customers perspective, parking systems should be invisible: the more reliably they operate, the better for the airport patrons and the authority.
