Automated Valet technology ensures speedy entry and exit

Time passes slowly for valet customers waiting for their vehicles so every measure must be taken to check in and retrieve cars quickly. Automated Valets FaceID speeds the process of accepting and returning vehicles to their owners and creates a line of security in the process.

As part of Garage Access Control, a feature of the AVPM valet operating system, FaceID eliminates the need for valet drivers to stop and enter ID codes or wave badges every time they process a vehicle. When they reach an entry or exit kiosk they need only scan the customers ticket and pause for the FaceID camera to identify them. The camera photographs drivers as they pass through the barrier gate and service vehicles. If the system recognizes the driver, the information on who was responsible for the vehicle is transferred to the vehicles ticket, and the employee is allowed to proceed.

Eliminating ID badges and extra time for entering employee numbers saves more than a minute per transaction. That minute makes a difference for guests waiting, whether there is only one customer or 10. Every minute counts.

FaceID creates a security perimeter for the valet operation as well because it ensures that every driver is a legitimate employee. If FaceID does not recognize a driver, it will not allow to the car to proceed through entry or exit gates. This prevents vehicle theft and protects the operations bottom line and reputation.

Automated Valet Founder and CEO Ken Gulec says speed is the most important aspect of good service at a valet operation. Courtesy and accuracy are very important, but the efficiency of an operation will make or break its reputation for good service. People dont want to wait for their cars for any length of time, Gulec says. The FaceID feature makes processing cars faster and safer for the operation and the customer.
