Carl Walker, Inc. Announces Completion of UM Thompson Street Parking Structure Expansion

Carl Walker, Inc., a nationally recognized consultant in the parking industry, recently completed a 385-space parking structure expansion to the west side of the Thompson Street Parking Structure on the campus of the University of Michigan.
The eight-level expansion is an integral part of the University of Michigans Parking & Transportation strategic plan to provide parking for anticipated incremental growth in demand, and to replace parking lost on central campus due to various construction projects.

A two-story, 9,000-square-foot office building was constructed adjacent to the parking structure and houses the relocated and expanded Parking and Transportation Services Office and Budget and Planning Office. The existing Parking Services Office located along the south end of the Thompson Street Parking Structure was demolished and the space modified to create approximately 875-square-feet of enclosed bicycle parking and space for a grounds maintenance storage room.

With the addition, the entire parking structure now accommodates approximately 1,060 vehicles.

Recognized as one of the most respected and experienced companies in the parking industry, Carl Walker, Inc. operates 10 offices nationwide that specialize in parking planning, parking structure design and the restoration of parking structures, plazas and facades.
