Carleton and Algonquin Expand Text Parking Services

Ottawa - Espirity Inc. has expanded its text parking service, iParked.ca, on the Carleton and Algonquin campuses.
The first-of-its-kind in North America, the text messaging technology provides a simple way to avoid parking tickets while eliminating cold or inconvenient walks to Pay-And-Display machines in parking lots.
Users simply register their vehicle and payment information online, says Espirity CEO Dwight Deugo, a Carleton computer science professor. Once they have texted to pay for parking, they receive both a text message and an electronic receipt for confirmation. Its a very simple solution that gives users more options.
The innovative text parking technology provides a quick and easy means of extending parking times. It notifies users 10 minutes before their parking expires with a text message, creating a simple way of avoiding parking tickets without leaving a meeting or classroom.
At Carleton, it is now available in parking lots 5, 6, 7, 9 and the library garage, in addition to current service in lots 1 and 2.
And while the service was initiated at Carleton University, it has become a permanent feature on Algonquins campus, where it is offered in lots 1, 5, 10, 11, 12, 14, C, P and N.
