Fred Adams Paving Company has just completed its portion of work for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) New Headquarters in Downtown Raleigh. The AIA Triangle is the voice of the local architecture profession dedicated to serving over 750 members. Clancy & Theys was the general contractor on this eco-friendly project designed by the award winning Architect, Frank Harmon. The $5.4 project sits on the corner of Wilmington and Peace Street.

The building has been designed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards at the highest Platinum level, and meets AIA Committee On The Environment (COTE) goals, which include regional appropriateness and the use of regionally available materials, land use and site ecology, sustainable materials and methods of construction, reduced water usage, and increased energy efficiency.

The innovative parking garden - where porous paving supports automobiles and functions as open, green space - eliminates storm water runoff and models an effective solution for parking needs. The parking garden also provides an outdoor gathering space for Chapter and community events Fred Adams Paving was proud to be part of this sustainable project. Instead of having stormwater running down the parking lot, becoming polluted and draining into our water systems, it will simply drain into the permeable paver system. said Fred Adams Jr. We were able to use a mechanical installer to keep down the cost of the project and the time of installation. A buried rainwater collection cistern captures every drop of rainwater for reuse.
