International Parking Design Completes Another Signature Project On-Time and $7 Million Under Budget

As Architects of Record, International Parking Design worked closely with City representatives from the conceptual design phase through construction documents and construction administration on this 481- space, three-level subterranean garage.
BeverlyHills.jpgLocated beneath a portion of Crescent Drive and a landscaped plaza at the front entrance to City Hall, construction of the project included replacement of approximately 400 lineal feet of Crescent Drive as well as re-routing of all existing utilities in the street. During the ribbon cutting ceremony on November 3, 2011, Beverly Hills Mayor Barry Brucker expressed his gratitude by congratulating IPD and its design team, City staff and contractors on the successful completion of this complex subterranean project. The parking structure provides additional parking for the City as well as the new Annenberg Theater currently under construction.

The facility features a pedestrian connection to the theater via escalators and glass-enclosed elevators. Access to City Hall is provided by stairs and elevators located in the southwest corner of the garage. The historical Beverly Hills Post Office Building, located to the west of City Hall, will be the main pedestrian entry and valet drop-off for the Annenberg Theater. A dedicated valet ramp provides a direct connection from the drop-off area to the second level of the parking structure. This level of the structure has been designed to accommodate valet use as well as allow flexibility to increase or decrease the number of valet spaces in accordance with demand. Regular vehicular access to the structure is via a circular ramp from Crescent Drive as well as on-grade access from Santa Monica Blvd. South.

The interior of the parking structure is painted white to increase reflectivity and create a more user friendly environment. Additional enhancements include a landscaped light well within the circular ramp and increased lighting levels provided by energy efficient fixtures. In addition, electric charging stations are located in various locations throughout the garage.

For over 40 years, IPD has specialized in parking structure design providing architectural, structural engineering, and parking consulting services including demand/feasibility studies, master planning, functional design, access/revenue control systems and operations consulting.
