NSL and Blue Badge Fraud Investigations announce partnership

NSL, the UKs leading parking enforcement company, has teamed up with the countrys leading investigators of blue badge fraud to announce a new partnership aimed at reducing abuse of the disabled parking badge scheme in the UK.
Investigation will be working exclusively with NSL in the outsourced parking sector. NSL, in turn, will bring their market-leading resource and expertise to bear in increasing the focus on the reduction of blue badge fraud.

Michael Adewole, NSL general manager, who signed the deal with BBFI, commented: We employ more on-street parking officers than anyone else so we see a great deal of suspicious use of blue badges. With the added expertise of BBFI we will now be able to offer a much more detailed service to our clients to ensure suspicious badges are investigated and offenders prosecuted more efficiently.

Paul Slowey, founder of BBFI, commented: Estimates show almost half a million blue badges are misused across the country. The scheme is a lifeline to millions of disabled people but historically has been poorly enforced. This partnership will bring higher levels of legitimacy to the scheme and help more disabled people access services. BBFI, as a training, investigation and prosecution organisation, seamlessly integrates all three functions, which we see in a holistic way. Convicting someone across the country every day in the criminal courts, BBFI have the knowledge and experience to keep convicting fraudsters."

Michael Adewole added: Where we have worked with BBFI in the past we have shown the partnership is very successful in getting fraudsters into court and we try to publicise successful court actions to remind other drivers that they are breaking the law.

It is a particularly sneaky kind of crime because every time someone uses a blue badge fraudulently they are potentially denying a genuinely disabled person of that parking space. Reducing fraud of that kind is one of the most important aspects of our service and I am delighted that we are able to offer a more robust approach with BBFI.
