Norwalk Parking Authority seeks artists for public project

The City of Norwalk Parking Authority is looking to brighten up the South Norwalk train station and enrich commuters through a permanent art installation. The Authority is inviting proposals from professional artists, 18 and over, to create an original work of art for the station. Funding for the art project has been made available through a grant provided by the Federal Transportation Enhancement Public Art Program.
The permanent art installation will have an historic railroad theme in keeping with its location, as well as a connection to the essence of the surrounding South Norwalk historic, waterfront community. The proposed area of installation will be on the eastbound side of the South Norwalk Railroad Station and through the tunnel that connects to the westbound side.

A pre-proposal conference will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the South Norwalk train station, 24 Monroe Street in Norwalk. Interested parties should meet in the eastbound platform lobby area. The full RFP application and documents are available on the City of Norwalks website at http://www.norwalkct.org/bids.aspx .

The Norwalk Parking Authority is a financially self-sustaining organization responsible for the operation and maintenance of the municipal parking system in Norwalk. It is not financed by taxpayer dollars. The Authority is committed to collaborating with community organizations while providing exceptional customer service to parking customers.
