ACS, A Xerox Company, to Modernize Indianapolis Parking, Creating Jobs and Economic Growth

The City of Indianapolis has selected Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), A Xerox Company, to overhaul its public parking system, delivering advanced technology and convenience to the city's motorists and businesses.
This unique public-private-partnership is expected to raise more than $600 million for the city during the 50-year agreement. ACS will simplify parking by introducing new meters that accept credit cards and, eventually, payments by cell phone. Xerox's expertise in document and print management will provide additional efficiency and expertise, contributing to the improved revenue generation from parking operations.

Parking management is becoming increasingly difficult for cities due to budgetary constraints and competition for limited resources, said David Amoriell, group president of Transportation Solutions, ACS, A Xerox Company. ACS and its local partners bring more than 180 years of combined parking management expertise and modern technology to help Indianapolis provide residents with intelligent transportation systems that yield convenience, jobs and revenue.

ACS will replace the antiquated coin-operated meters beginning in early 2011. Initially the project calls for ACS to modernize and maintain 3,600 metered parking spaces. Updates on the installation and the project itself can be found at the ParkIndy website: http://www.parkindy.net/.

ACS has assembled a team of experienced parking professionals to deliver the landmark parking system to the city's residents and businesses. Other members of the team include Denison Global Parking a minority-owned business enterprise, and Evens Time, a woman-owned business enterprise, both of Indianapolis, with experience delivering parking management products and services locally and around the world.
