BCD Holdings Achieves Record Sales in 2010

The international travel company BCD Holdings N.V. achieved higher sales of U.S.$ 17.7 billion in the year 2010 (U.S.$ 14.8 billion in 2009), despite the global recession. The total sales volume of BCD surpasses the revenue level from before the international crisis. The companys EBITDA increased to U.S.$ 108 million.

Joop Drechsel, CEO of BCD, said: The positive trend of the first half of 2010 has continued solidly and our sales increased by over 20 per cent. The revenues have hereby topped the former level of 2008 and the prospects for 2011 are good as well. The major part of sales increase is attributable to the expansion of activities in the Far East and South America. Furthermore, BCD added over U.S.$ 1.5 billion to the total revenues through acquisition of new customers.

BCD had a promising start to the year 2011 with the merger of online travel companies CheapTickets, Vliegwinkel and Vayama. The merging of these companies has led to the creation of one strong and international online travel company. The purpose is to strengthen the current representation in the various countries and to expand activities in the remaining parts of Europe and in Asia. The new travel company, of which the name will soon be announced, recently launched the websites Vayama.ca (Canada) and CheapTickets.be (Belgium).
