BILL LAURIE TO LEAVE METRIC DAILY COMMUTE TOO EXHAUSTING

One of the parking industrys best known figures has announced he is leaving his present position at the end of next month (April).
BillJochen01.jpgBill Laurie, 58, who is in his eighth year as Sales and Marketing Director of Metric Parking, will retain his directorship for the remainder of the year and also continue to oversee Metrics Sales Department in a part time capacity.

One of his main responsibilities will be to provide support for Richard Boultbee who has recently been appointed Metrics UK Sales and Marketing Manager.

Of his reasons for leaving his full time post, Bill said today: I have simply found the commute of 240 miles a day from Shropshire to Wiltshire too exhausting and particularly difficult during the winter months.

Due to changing traffic patterns and congestion on the roads the journey from my home in Shropshire to the office in Swindon has become much more difficult than it was eight years ago.

When I first started the job was made easier by inheriting a very strong and experienced sales team with a tremendous team spirit.

We are fortunate to still have that strength in depth and I am therefore delighted to continue working with the sales team albeit on a consultancy basis.

And he added: I have thoroughly enjoyed my role with Metric and working alongside a team who are a credit to the company and the parking industry.

A tribute to Bill Laurie has been paid by Metric Parkings Managing Director Jochen Oehmen who commented: I fully understand Bills reasons for leaving which no-one can challenge.

However, I am delighted he will be continuing to work with Metric, albeit in a part-time role, and we shall continue to benefit from his sound advice and depth of experience.

Traffex/Parkex will provide the ideal venue for Bill to say his farewells to friends and colleagues within the parking industry.
