Birmingham-based car park is awarded 19 Secured Car Parks Awards

The Secured Car Parks Award, established by the Association of Chief Police Officers, encourages car park operators to improve their car parking facilities in accordance with a set of stringent rules. These rules include good design and management, good surveillance by camera or regular patrols, good lighting, provision of help points and controlled pedestrian and vehicle entry and exit points.

Managed by Universal Parking Ltd based in Leeds, the car park has CCTV site-wide, with 24-hr monitoring, improved lighting, a site shuttle bus to the main buildings, a well surfaced area plus pay-on-foot equipment and staff card access systems.

The car park has seen a significant reduction of crime since these awards. The revenue generated from the car park is reinvested into the scheme and any further improvements that need to be made.
