BPA & IHT join forces

Two of the biggest organisations involved in the transport sector have joined forces to put on a one-day conference which aims to raise the standards in managing parking and its relationship with wider transport and land use objectives.
BPA.jpgThe British Parking Association, along with the Institution of Highways and Transportation, will present the conference, based around the IHT’s forthcoming good practice guideline, on 19 March in London. Entitled ‘Parking Strategies and Management’, the conference aims to give attendees effective actions for successful results in both the on-street and off-street arena.

Commenting on the conference, Andrew Sampson, President of the BPA, said: “Parking is a major factor in the economic and environmental health of our villages, towns and cities and is an important source of revenue for both public and private organisations.”

“Although we recognise the professionalism of parking managers, there is great scope for improvement. What we want to do with this seminar and the forthcoming IHT guideline publication is to translate best practice into routine practice. This seminar will explore the relevant issues and give delegates the foundations for improving and developing their parking strategies, thereby making them more effective.”

The IHT guideline is due out in early summer.

For more information and to register for the seminar, contact the British Parking Association on (01444) 447300 or email info@BPAuk.demon.co.uk
