Deerfield Beach Prepares to Launch New Parking Program

The City of Deerfield Beach has completed the installation of its new Pay-by-Plate parking system which is scheduled to go live Monday, July 7, 2014. The new parking revenue collection and enforcement system is an important upgrade for residents and visitors of Deerfield Beach and includes pay-by-plate terminals and a Mobile payment app provided by our partners, Cale America. In addition this new system incorporates license plate recognition technologies for enforcement provided by gtechna and 3M.

Parking fee structures and enforcement zones were recently simplified and approved at the City Commission meeting on June 17, 2014, in preparation for the roll-out of the new program. Customers will be able to pay by entering their license plate number at a kiosk, or by downloading an app for their Android or Apple Smartphone. A Parking Help Desk has also been created to answer questions about the new program. The Parking Help Desk number, 954-480-4256, will be answered 7 days a week for patrons to call for assistance. Installation of all of the new signs and sign poles will be completed later this week, which will be followed by the removal of the existing coin-only meters and older pay stations.

One of the City’s police vehicles has been equipped with a License Plate Recognition (LPR) camera system which will be used to patrol and enforce parking. The system captures license plate images and automatically compares the vehicle plate number with the paid parking session database in real time.
