Cale MP102 pay and display machines accept Cornish Key

Tonbridge, Great Britain - 22 August, 2003
North Cornwall District Council has become the first local authority to accept payment of parking fees using the Cornish Key card.
cornish.jpgNorth Cornwall District Council were already operating more than 50 stainless steel MP102 pay and display machines when it was decided that they would participate in the Cornish Key system and wanted their machines to accept payment for parking via the Cornish Key.

As the machines were already installed and operational, it was necessary to retrofit Cornish Key Card compatible readers. All Cale MP102 machines have the necessary hardware fittings for card readers as standard, therefore each upgrade can be achieved in less than 30 minutes.

Working closely with the Pathfinder Group, their consultants and other specialist contractors, Cale BriParc were able to provide a solution that met the requirements of the Cornish Key.

CA_col_L.gifThe Cornish Key has been designed to provide a single-card solution for users to obtain and interface with services provides by the County and District Councils of Cornwall.

Applications already include library membership, access control, and a concessionary fare bus pass. Further applications are planned and may include school meals, school attendance, computer access, e-voting, as well as access to leisure and health facilities.

Motorists will be able to use their Cornish Key card at a conventional pay and display machines that has been upgraded with a Cornish Key reader. As well as purchasing a pay and display ticket, the motorist can top up the value of their balance on their card for use at any car park participating in the Cornish Key scheme, or for use with any other application.

The balance can be topped up at any Cornish Key Card compatible pay and display machine. As other district councils' pay and display machines become compatible, it will be possible to spend credit added in one district in another district.
