Cale Systems pay and display machines to accept the Parcxmart card standard
Cale Systems, the North American subsidiary of Cale Access, one of the worlds leading suppliers of advanced and flexible pay and display machines, and Parcxmart Technologies, Inc., an electronic payments company, today announced their partnership to incorporate Parcxmart Card technology into Cale Systems pay and display machines.
Once integrated, Cale Systems’ multipurpose ticket machines will securely accept Parcxmart-compliant smart card transactions for parking payment. These pay and display machines will be available in the second half of 2005.
“Cale Systems is excited to partner with Parcxmart Technologies because of its standardized smart card parking payment system linked to merchants and its ability to stimulate downtown economic development,” said George Levey President of Cale North America. “The Parcxmart electronic payment standard provides additional payment options and convenience for consumers and cities while taking more cash and coin out of the parking system. This Parcxmart™ Card program pushes the parking market closer than ever before toward a cashless transaction.”
The software integration process will enable Cale Systems multipurpose ticket machines to incorporate Parcxmart Technologies’ turnkey smart card payment platform. The Parcxmart ™ Card solution is linked to Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) networks, retail merchants, and merchant banks on behalf of municipalities and the commuting public. A Parcxmart ™ Card has electronic value (up to $100) loaded through Parcxmart-compliant POS terminals using cash or a debit or credit card processed via existing EFT networks, just as any other over-the-counter purchase using debit or credit is done today. The consumer inserts the Parcxmart Card into a variety of parking meters that incorporate Parcxmart Technologies' turnkey smart card payment platform, and pays for parking. All funds management and movement associated with the value of issued cards is managed by a bank. The parking system operator is reimbursed for revenue spent at city parking meters on a predetermined settlement schedule. Access to purchasing and loading value to the Parcxmart ™ Card is through a network of local merchants that benefit from commissions generated by selling and reloading dollar value on the cards.
“We are excited about our partnership with Cale Systems,” said John Regan, President and CEO of Parcxmart Technologies. “More and more cities are adding pay and display machines as a vital part of their on-street parking solution for parking payments. This partnership illustrates our commitment to move the parking industry toward a cashless transaction environment. Cale Systems clearly understands the benefits of the innovative Parcxmart™ Card, its ability to remove cash from the system, while also offering consumers and cities secure small dollar transaction convenience.”
