Carlisle parking attendant makes headlines

The Daily Mail has singled out an attendant in Carlisle in the latest of its anti-parking restriction stories after learning that he has issued 3,059 tickets in 30 weeks.
BPA.jpgCarlisle Council took on DPE a year ago and has a fourteen-strong team of PAs patrolling the streets. Issuing one in every three of the PCNs is Ian Bevan who the newspaper has dubbed 'Britain's most ticket-happy warden' after learning that he has issued more PCNs than any other PA in the country. The figures were published in a council report commissioned as a result of controversy about reintroducing policing of parking restriction in the city; when presented at a council meeting there was said to be unanimous support for the service.

The city council hopes that the media focus on their employee does not bring any undue attention to their on-street enforcement staff.
