Cell Phones To Soon Help Parking

Now a D.C.-based company, Mobile Parking, has come up with an answer that uses the Internet and a cell phone to help drivers find parking spaces in garages. Mobileparking.com is expected to launch later this year.
First motorists have to go to the Web site and register. Then when they need a garage space, they can use their cell phone to call mobileparking.com at 800-PARK-123, tell the person who answers the final destination and they'll tell you where there's a space.

Mobile Parking can also make a reservation, tell you the price for parking and send a text message with driving directions.

"The customer is free to open an account. The first use is free and there will be a transaction fee every time the customer uses it thereafter," said Jason Boseck of Mobileparking.com. "To start it's $1.75."

Boseck said Mobileparking.com will provide convenience and security to drivers because they won't have to keep circling the block wasting gas.

Mobileparking.com will launch in 30 cities, Boseck said, with ties to 3,100 different parking facilities, and D.C. will be one of the first.

A launch date has not been picked, but Boseck said it will be by Dec. 31.
