Central Parking Awarded Chicago Transit Authority Park & Ride and Under L Parking Contract
Central Parking System, Inc. (Central Parking) today announced that its Chicago partnership, CPS Chicago Parking LLC, a partnership between Central Parking and Gomez Transportation, has been selected by the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to operate select Park & Ride lots totaling approximately 3,700 parking spaces.
In addition, CPS Chicago Parking will maintain all of CTAs Under L parking areas, spaces under the elevated tracks that can be leased for a monthly fee. CPS Chicago Parking expects to assume management of the facilities in December of this year.
We are very pleased to be working with the CTA and look forward to adding the agency to our list of commuter related clients, said Emanuel J. Eads, President and Chief Executive Officer of Central Parking. We believe that our ability to professionally plan and manage the installation of new technologies, while simultaneously increasing customer service, will add significant value to the CTAs bottom line.
The local management team, led by Vice President, Alan Kahn, and Partner, Armando Gomez, have extensive experience in the commuter parking and transportation business. In the late 1990s, Kahn led Central Parkings United Kingdom expansion into the privatization of parking and rail through British Rails franchising of its network and outsourcing more than 300 rail station parking facilities under its management. Gomez, the owner of Gomez Transportation, is a former 30-year employee of United Airlines, which included work as the Director of Government and Public Affairs. Gomez Transportation is a local Chicago DBE firm specializing in transportation services, parking management, toll road operations, marketing and government affairs.
