Central Parking Corporation Awarded FedExField
Central Parking Corporation has been selected by the Washington Redskins to manage the parking at FedExField, home to the Washington Redskins professional football team.
Eight regular season games are played at the facility as well as two preseason games. Additionally, the stadium is used for other events such as concerts, soccer games and trade shows. Central Parking assumed management of the parking program on August 1, 2007.
FedExField opened in 1997 with a seating capacity of 80,116 and has grown to a current capacity of 91,704 seats making it the largest stadium in the National Football League. Central Parking Corporation will manage multiple parking lots surrounding the stadium that provide parking for more than 22,000 vehicles. With the addition of this contract, Central Parking Corporation now works directly with 28 teams in the four major leagues, including management of parking at NFL stadiums in Baltimore, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Nashville and Philadelphia.
After handling parking ourselves since the stadium opened, we looked at Centrals capabilities and determined it made more sense to partner with the best, said Michael Dillow, the Redskins Senior Vice President responsible for stadium operations. Centrals experience with sports venues was a key factor in our decision.
The award of the FedExField contract further solidifies our position as the leading parking operator for major league franchises, said James H. Bond, Executive Vice President of Central Parking System. We are extremely pleased that the Redskins organization has demonstrated this level of confidence in our ability to manage this very complex parking situation.
