Central Parking Signs Multi-Year Contract with Digital Payment Technologies to Meet PCI Data Security Standard

Digital Payment Technologies (DPT), is pleased to announce its recent multi-year contract with Central Parking to replace all of Central Parkings existing multi-space parking meters used in parking lots, garages and on-street.
Central Parking is North America's largest parking services provider operating more than 2,800 parking facilities containing over 1.3 million spaces. The company currently uses DPT equipment in cities that include Atlanta, Calgary, Denver, Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Toronto and Vancouver.

The LUKE parking pay stations will replace approximately 400 existing pay stations to be phased in over the next two to three years and will also become the standard for future multi-space parking contracts. The first 90 pay stations will be delivered in December for installation in Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Nashville, Pittsburgh and San Antonio. All pay stations are configured to accept credit cards, bills and coins. Additional parking meter features include real-time credit card processing, a color screen and networking between all pay stations over the Verizon CDMA network. For the future, Central Parking is also evaluating DPTs Web Services application to facilitate the direct integration between parking pay station data and Central Parkings accounting system.

Beyond looking for a parking meter to meet Central Parkings extensive user and operational requirements, a key factor in the companys decision is DPTs commitment to meeting the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard. DPT received certification as a Level 1 Service Provider in April and completed its third-party audit under PCIs Payment Applications Best Practices (PABP) in September. PCI oversees the storage, transmission and processing of credit card transactions, and has extensive requirements that merchants, service providers and application vendors must meet to ensure consumer data is protected.

Central Parking is leading the PCI effort in the parking industry and is working hard to meet the credit card standards under PCI in all facets of our organization, comments Central Parking CEO Emanuel Eads. In reviewing equipment options, Digital Payment Technologies met our functional requirements, but more importantly, it was the only multi-space vendor to complete a third-party audit to validate the PCI standards for equipment and processing. This third-party validation is very important to us as we do not want to take any chances when it comes to protecting consumer credit card information.

We are pleased to continue expanding our relationship with Central Parking with this recent contract, comments DPT Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Scott. We believe LUKE will provide parkers with a fast and user-friendly method of paying for their parking while providing Central Parking and its customers with the data security they demand.
