Changes to the Controlled Parking Zone in Worthing delayed
Changes to the Controlled Parking Zone in Worthing will be implemented later than originally thought, West Sussex County Council has announced.The County Council was hoping for the improvements to be in place early this year. However, they are now expected to be implemented in the summer.
The delay is due to an unforeseen amount of work to design the scheme before it could be handed to contractors.
However, the revised timescales has meant that the County Council has been able to include some additional measures in the scheme, such as reviewing and improving loading bays in shopping areas for the benefit of local traders.
Committee Chairman Bob Smytherman said: I understand that this delay will be very disappointing for local residents. However, I feel sure that the additional time taken to deliver this work will result in a more comprehensive scheme.
The County Council will write to residents affected by the new restrictions a month before implementation to invite them to purchase a resident permit if required.
