City of Iowa City Chooses T2 Flex as New Access and Revenue Control Solution

The City of Iowa City has been a T2 customer for several years and in September of 2008 it upgraded its legacy system to T2 Flex, coinciding with a restructuring of the citation processing responsibilities within the city. This upgrade was followed closely by the project to replace the access and revenue control systems in three cashiered facilities. After the RFP process, T2 was awarded the contract for the project.

According to Chris OBrien, Director of Transportation Services for the city, there were several reasons why T2 Flex was chosen, one of which is that the city will now be able to manage all aspects of its operation with just one system.

The idea of having a system that processes everything related to our parking operation is very appealing, OBrien said. Having our permit system in the same software suite as our access and revenue control system is very convenient and has eliminated the need for additional interfaces or duplicate entry of data.

T2 Flex is the industrys only parking system that manages permits, citations and access and revenue-controlled facilities. This gives users the convenience of one system, or data base, which contains all relevant information, making reporting more efficient.

The ability to produce reports that summarize all of our revenue streams without the need for numerous spreadsheets is very exiting, OBrien said.

The City of Iowa City is a demonstration of how T2 Flex can meet the needs of a growing and evolving operation. The city was using T2 Flex to manage its citations and is adding the access and revenue functionality. According to OBrien, this means more efficiency and less re-work.

During the beginning stages of our access and revenue control project, we have benefited from working with a company that is familiar with our operations and business practices, OBrien said. And we already know how to use T2 Flex so its less downtime and improved efficiency for our operation.
