City of Los Angeles Selects Modern Access Systems

The City of Los Angeles recently awarded a significant contract to Petra Access Systems, a Southern California Modern dealer, to provide and install a new Parking Access & Revenue Control System at their Cabrillo Beach and Marina.
The site is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, and has been controlled until now in a cigar-box type of operation. The City tried to control the facility two years ago by operating it as a Pay & Display site, but found that enforcement was difficult and hit and miss at best.

The installation requires the construction of several raised concrete islands with buried conduit, and the placement of three new prefabricated steel parking attendant booths, along with the six lanes of automated Modern parking access and revenue control devices.

According to Alex Suhovy, owner of Petra Access Systems, other than issues dealing with the City of Los Angeles permitting process, the installation went off without a hitch. The actual installation of all three concrete islands and six lanes of parking equipment took just over a week, then we did the cashier training and EASE system training. Everything went off like clockwork!
