Civica plc. has been awarded separate contracts from Local authorities in South Yorkshire
Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham all adopt ‘Authority Traffic’ solution in contracts worth in excess of L400k.
Civica plc, one of the UK’s most experienced providers of consulting, software and services for the public sector, has been awarded separate contracts from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council and Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, to provide managed parking services worth in excess of L400,000 over five years.
Following Civica’s recent contract awards with other local authorities such as Manchester City Council and Sheffield City Council, Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham were looking for a partner who could provide not only a strong solution but also manage it on a day to day basis and provide future upgrades and support, all backed by guaranteed service level agreements.
In addition the local authorities, although all in South Yorkshire, each had different challenges and felt that only a company with a strong track record in both parking systems and the associated business processes would understand the complexities and be able to fully address their individual requirements.

“We visited Manchester City Council to see Civica’s solutions in action and were very impressed. Not only will this solution deliver productivity and save us valuable time, we think Civica is the best partner for our drive to keep Doncaster moving and our streets clear”, said Keith Todd, Group Leader Parking and Highways Services at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council.
Russell Potts, Parking Services Manager at Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council, said, “We were looking for a partner who could provide the solution as a managed service. When the current system isn’t working properly, we have to ask ‘who is responsible for the problem?’. Is it us, the local authority, or the systems provider? Depending on the outcome, the problem then has to be fixed. With Civica managing the whole process, we can use our time more efficiently, focusing on other issues and yet assured that we are also keeping pace with modern technology.”
“With responsibility for parking enforcement moving onto local authorities and away from the police, we needed to ensure that our systems were compliant with current legislation and with the capacity and flexibility to handle future demands. Civica has a huge amount of experience in this area and we are pleased to be able to support the area by awarding the contract to a local company,” said Darren Richardson, Chief Engineer at Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
Enforcement managing director at Civica, Simon Parkes, said, “The award of these contracts based on the quality of service and support offered through our managed solution has endorsed our clear leadership position and at the same time the Councils have all demonstrated their support for business in the local area. We are very pleased to be able to work with local authorities in the region and to help them achieve their service priorities and efficiency goals. We look forward to supporting their vision of an improved environment for South Yorkshire.”
