Civica presents Future of Parking at Parkex
Upgrade to digital CCTV to ease traffic hot spot congestion and simplify communication with motorists
Civica, a market leader in software-based solutions that helps organisations to improve service delivery and efficiency, will be presenting "The Future of Parking Technology" seminar at Parkex on 21-23 April 2009.
The presentation will cover Digital Video Recorder (DVR) CCTV as a Managed Service which offers motorists the opportunity to view digital footage of alleged offences via a local authoritys online self service facilities, upload their own supporting material to dispute a penalty or pay fines online.
"The Traffic Management Act, which came into full effect at the end of March 2009, has forced local authorities to reassess their CCTV moving traffic equipment to be auditable and comply with asset management requirements," says Mick Cosentino, Product Director, Civica. The option to use a Managed Service coupled with DVR CCTV reduces the administrative burden of parking offices, enhances business continuity and most importantly ensures that any parking notice issued is as accurate as possible.
For local authorities, the key benefits of implementing DVR CCTV technology include:
* reduced physical storage as all CCTV footage is captured digitally, rather than being stored on VHS or DVD media
* more accurate parking offence evidence
* the ability to issue penalty notices automatically based on CCTV images and recording of moving traffic contraventions in real time, which also makes it easier to dispatch parking attendants to congested areas quickly
Consentino added: "The future of parking enforcement is technology like DVR CCTV run as a Managed Service, offering a more efficient end-to-end operation that makes parking offence administration more transparent while reducing manual processing and analysis of CCTV footage."
