Civil Enforcement Awards Cancelled

The British Parking Association, in conjunction with the Headline Sponsors, Philips Collection Services Ltd and Civil Enforcement Now, has today announced that this years Civil Enforcement Awards will not be taking place.
The decision was taken in light of the economic downturn and the unprecedented challenges facing the industry which has put members under considerable financial pressure this year. This brought about the mutual decision of the Association and their sponsors to cancel the 2009 Awards in order to reduce any further financial burden.

The Awards were due to be announced and presented at a ceremony on Friday, 23 October 2009, at the London Marriott Hotel on Grosvenor Square.

Last years event was a huge success, with almost 80 entries, and it is hoped that this can be repeated in future years.

Patrick Troy, the BPAs chief executive, said: We need to always ensure we give our members value for money, and to continue with the awards when so many of our members are facing difficulties in their businesses or in their Authorities didnt seem to be the right thing to do.

Nick Bradley, chief executive of Philips Collection Services Ltd, echoed these feelings: With the current economic climate, and the effects being felt on individuals and businesses alike, it is not an appropriate time for a lavish celebration within the sector. Whilst the cancellation of the Awards is regrettable, it is a unanimous decision.

The BPA wishes to apologise to any company that was hoping to land an award this year, or that has spent time putting together a 2009 entry.

The BPA will be contacting everyone that has made a commitment to the 2009 Awards, either by buying tickets or securing sponsorship, to arrange reimbursement. However, if anyone has any queries regarding this matter, please contact the British Parking Association on 01444 447300.
