Community Forum On Belmont Shore Parking
The Belmont Shore Residents Association is hosting a community forum on parking issues next Thursday.
Parking has been a problem in Belmont Shore for many years. Recent concerns from residents about increased parking demands from businesses on Second Street have brought the issue to the forefront again. A proposal to have employees or visitors use the beach parking lots at Ocean Boulevard to alleviate parking congestion in the neighborhoods has run into a number of obstacles.
To that end, BSRA has organized the forum and invited officials from a number of city departments and area organizations.
Those individuals include Third District Councilman Frank Colonna, Long Beach Transit President Larry Jackson, Marine Bureau Manager Mark Sandoval, East Division Long Beach Police Department Commander Linda Beardslee, BSRA Parking Committee Chair Cynthia Brannon, Belmont Shore Business Association President Gene Rotondo and Mike Sheldrake, chair of the Belmont Shore Parking and Business Improvement Area Advisory Commission. Moderating the forum will be Harry Saltzgaver, executive editor and associate publisher of Gazette Newspapers.
The forum will begin at 7 p.m. at the Bay Shore Community Congregational Church, 5100 The Toledo.
