Compex' 3sixty° System offers all round IT coverage

The Compex management package adopted by VINCI Park UK offers an all-in-one solution. A key component of a well run parking operation is a versatile, easy-to-use IT package, believes VINCI Park UK boss Sue Taylor.
vincipark.gifTo help achieve this, VINCI unveiled a wide ranging management suite , developed by its IT are Compex, earlier this year.
So far the 3sixty° system has been adopted by 18 clients, most on-street operators such as Glasgow. “It’s the ease of using the system that is fundamentally important” says Taylor. “We didn’t just have technical people developing it, but tested it on people who do the processing. This new software package is based on experience that the industry has gained.”
The system, which replaces Compex’s COPPT suite, requires less keystrokes, giving easier access to data, and faster response, says Compex’s sales executive Scott Gow. “The front end now gives access to all of the modules,” he says. “So one log-in could give you access to notice processing , permits, clamping and removal, suspensions, planned maintenance and handheld software, to name but a few. In addition to this security access can then limit the areas of individual user’s access to the modules.”
3sixty.jpgThe new system also has a more user-friendly display and incorporates items such as the automatic linking of digital images with penalty charge notices (PCNs) regardless of whether they come from CCTV, bus lane separate digital cameras or handhelds fitted with cameras, says Gow.
Parking authorities can use 3sixty° for other civil enforcement operations, says Gow. This means that the parking attendant can use the same system to issue fines for a range of offences including bus lane contraventions, abandoned vehicles, fly tipping, dog fouling, littering and graffiti, he explains.
Compex has also created a web link, enabling councils to deal with payments, representations and permit application on-line. Gow points out that the 3sixty° automates “mundane jobs” such as correspondence production, automatic linking of scans and digital images, automatic payment, file processing, report generation, and files for mailing houses, the DVLA, adjudicators and bailiffs, with permit renewals all done overnight.
“This leaves the user to deal with more pressing issues,” says Gow. Meanwhile, the Workflow facility designates cases to teams or individual users themselves “giving the parking office greater control of who deals with what and where there might be bottle necks within the process”, says Gow.
“With WiFi you can have low cost periodic updates during the day with access points in local authorities’ town, borough or district or city centre. With WiFi you have simultaneous connections to the server enabling handhelds to connect and synchronise without having to return to base.”
