Complete Integration for Secure Smart Card Parking Meters to Accept Parcxmart Card Standard
J.J. MacKay Canada Limited /MacKay Meters, Inc, a leader in parking meter innovation, and Parcxmart Technologies(tm), Inc., an electronic payments company, today announced their agreement to integrate MacKay's single-space and multi-space parking meters with Parcxmart's Smart Card electronic payment system.
The current plan is for various MacKay meters and equipment (Guardian XL and XLE Series Parking Meter Mechanisms, Guardian Multi and MacKay's Black Box) being upgraded to accept Parcxmart Smart Card electronic payment system.

The Parcxmart payment system is the first that integrates on and off-street parking as well as local merchant purchases, thereby eliminating the need for cities to manage the transactions and sell the cards directly. The Parcxmart(tm) Card solution is a comprehensive payment platform that uses smart card technology to offer commuters a convenient one card alternative to coins and cash at on-street and off-street parking locations across North America. This payment platform provides a secure and accurate way of generating, collecting, processing and receiving revenues from on-street and off-street parking locations. It is also the first smart card payment platform that compliments existing Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) networks and merchant acquirers by removing small dollar cash payments from on and off-street parking and retail merchants on behalf of municipalities and the commuting public.
A Parcxmart(tm) Card has electronic value (up to $500) loaded through Parcxmart-compliant POS terminals using cash or a debit or credit card processed just as any other over-the-counter purchase using debit or credit today. All funds management and movement associated with the value of issued cards is managed by a bank. The parking system operator is reimbursed for revenue spent at city parking meters on a predetermined settlement schedule. Access to purchasing and loading value to the Parcxmart Card is through a network of local merchants that benefit from commissions generated by selling and reloading dollar value on the cards and accepting small dollar transaction purchases economically from the Parcxmart network.
