Councils approves parking fees for motorbikes
Motorcyclists will be charged for on-street parking in central London, despite 30 parking signs being vandalised or stolen within the last week.
Westminster City Council has become the first London authority to approve plans to charge motorcyclists 1 to park on street parking bays from 25 January. The council will continue to allow motorcyclists to park for free in its undercover car parks.
Some motorcyclists have been allegedly vandalising parking signs in protest at the charge, causing 60,000 worth of damage since trials begun last August. The council has said it will prosecute anyone found vandalising council property and has increased surveillance on parking signs.
